Ugh. Here we go again. I think there’s a keyboard shortcut in Pro Tools that spits outs this song.

I’m pretty sure this verifies what I’ve said about Billy Corgan.

Science!

Kottke writes:

The results of a survey commissioned by the California Academy of Sciences reveals that Americans don’t know a whole lot about science.

- Only 53% of adults know how long it takes for the Earth to revolve around the Sun.
- Only 59% of adults know that the earliest humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time.
- Only 47% of adults can roughly approximate the percent of the Earth’s surface that is covered with water.*
- Only 21% of adults answered all three questions correctly.

I think this is even more depressing than the headline and summary make it out to be, because questions about the basic makeup of the world we live in shouldn’t even be considered “matters of science”. When a question is put that way, many adults will simply say they’re “not good with science.” But given the simplicity of the above questions, that’s similar to pulling the “not good at math” card to justify not knowing how to count upwards of twenty.

My American housemate says that he thinks this is false.

Couldn’t have said it better haha. Although personally, I can’t wait until I get to meticulously track Anita Sarkozi’s (HumanID #000000004) every movement.

This is some real recession-proof corporate spending. Thousands (probably millions for the campaign) of dollars for some marketing firm to do a flashy lip-service to “ideas”. Gimme a break. How exactly does this connect to Microsoft’s current practices? If I go out a buy a computer today I can’t do any of these things.

I hate to make this comparison, but you don’t see Apple talking about how great it will be when your Macbook folds into your pocket. I also doubt there’s a room in Cupertino where shoeless dudes sit around and talk about ‘e-paper’.

Feist comparisons, awful rhymes, british accents, incredibly gimmicky video, kung-fu stereotypes, technological nostalgia, lazy canadiana, Is that Fonzworth Bentley?, robot samples, and a vague, anti-consumerism message. What is this shit?

Just another attempt to remain relevant, move along.

Gawd. It’s like you if you put a Tarantino movie into Pro Tools and then left it out in the rain.

Norm Macdonald’s ability to exclaim “What The?” after somebody cracks a bad joke is probably the best reaction anyone could have in this situation.

I’m not sure whether O’Reilly knows he’s being mocked, or whether he’s choosing to ignore.
